Spoiling for fight

Today I must beat my wife for no apparent reason,
It has been long since we fought,
I feel unused, unnoticed and unappreciated,
I will just surprise her with a thunderous slap across her mouth,
And if she asks me why I slapped her,
I will slap her again for asking rhetorical questions.

Today I must refuse my wife’s food for no apparent reason,
It has been long since we quarreled,
I feel unused, unnoticed and unappreciated,
I will just wait for her to put the food on the table then I tell her I am not hungry,
If she asks where did I eat from?
I will slap her and accuse her of accusing me of cheating,
“Are you saying that I ate from my mpango wa Kando”s house?” I will ask her,
And before she answers I will rain blows on her.

I must abuse my wife today,
It has been long since we had a commotion in this house,
I feel unused, unnoticed and unappreciated,
This peace we have been having is boring,
I need some friction, some instability,
I need to re-assert my authority in this house,
I need to hear someone apologizing and re-assuring me that I am the controller of things,
I need to hear someone telling me how much she loves me,
And how she cannot live without me,
I just need to beat somebody.
