The revolt

My fellow youths,

I have called for this extra-ordinary meeting because of three events that have happened in the recent past,

As you are all aware, one of us, Dickson Onyango Obiero, has been sex-communicated from this village,

Dick-Dick was chased away because of sleeping with Abigael, the youngest wife of Othieno Ja-Alego,

Chief Milton Ojuok Obila not only chased away one of our own but he also took the wife of Othieno as his fifth wife,

And he also banned Othieno from visiting Changa’aa den.

My fellow youths,

Are we going to watch all these heinous acts without taking any action?

Are we going to allow impunity to flourish under our watch?

Whatever happened to Dick-Dick can happen to anyone of us,

We need to stage demonstrations to demand for our brother to be brought back.

We should also not allow Chief Milton Ojuok Obila to take Othieno’s wife,

It is not right,

We all know that he is a womanizer,

He came up with that decision so that he can have Othieno’s wife for himself,

Who does not know that Abigael is a young, beautiful woman?

It is an abomination for him to sleep with another person’s pregnant wife,

Are we going to allow this to happen under our watch?

What kind of youths would that make us?

Another thing is that it was not right for Chief Milton Ojuok Obila to restrict Ja-Alego from drinking,

What the council of elders ought to have done to end alcoholism in this village is to ban the brewing and selling of chang’aa in this village,

Not to restrict consumers,

We should therefore hold demonstrations to demand for fair treatment of alcoholics.

We are not of the old generation,

We are of the new generation and we should take advantage of the advancement in technology to

Chart our course,

We can form a Whatsapp group or a Facebook page where we discuss and share problems that affect us in this village,

We shall all assemble at the village square this coming Saturday,

From there, we shall march, through the market, all the way to Chief Milton Ojuok Obila’s residence,

We shall demand that he holds another meeting with the council of elders so that they allow Dick-Dick to come back,

We shall demand that he releases Abigael Nyar-Kano to go back to her husband,

We shall demand that all the changa’aa dens to be closed,
